Yamaha Flute Artist Mathieu Dufour Joins Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Flute


As of September 2014, Yamaha flute artist Mathieu Dufour, will join the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Flute.
Mathieu Dufour was appointed principal of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the age of 25 then becoming one of the youngest players to hold such a position.Having played in the orchestra since 1999, in May this year, Mathieu won the position in the Berlin Philharmonic replacing Andreas Blau who retires this year.
Born in France, Mathieu Dufour is one of the world’s most well known flutists and is famous not only for his orchestral playing, but also as a chamber musician and an award winning soloist.
His appointment means that Yamaha will now have two flute artists in the Berlin Philharmonic with Mathieu Dufour sitting alongside Yamaha artist Jelka Weber.
