Marimba legend Keiko Abe in Europe


It is rare to find a name that is synonymous with an instrument like Keiko Abe is with the marimba. A true legend, Keiko Abe is renowned as both a performer and as the composer of modern classics such as Memories of the Seashore and Dream of the Cherry Blossoms amongst many others. As a performer, she has premiered a number of well know marimba pieces and has had many well-known concert pieces written for her. During her stay in Europe, Keiko Abe will be a member of the jury at 23rd Drum Fest in Opole, Poland which includes the International Vibraphone and Marimba Competition that takes place on 25th and 26th October.

In addition to this, Keiko Abe will also give a number of master-classes in Germany and Austria and will visit the University of Hamburg (Prof. Monske), Rostock (Jan-Frederick Behrend) and Vienna (Prof. Zivkovic) where students and participants from outside of these universities can join the audience.
