Yamaha Artist Philip McCann to receive prestigious award

A Yamaha artist for many years and involved in the development of Yamaha’s groundbreaking new Neo cornet, Philip McCann is an influential figure in brass banding and is highly regarded not only as a cornet player, but also as a conductor.

Established in 1947, the Iles Medal is awarded to musicians in recognition of their services to the brass band movement. Founded by John Henry Iles, the medal is awarded annually and previous winners include some of the most highly regarded musicians from within the movement.

The award will be presented at this year’s British Open Brass Band Championships on 7th September.
