Compose to win with Clavinova
Win a Clavinova and a studio recording session in the “Compose with Clavinova” online competition
Yamaha Clavinova has been at the heart of great composition and music creation for over 30 years; we believe in supporting talent and so our Compose to Win competition is designed to do exactly that. Compose an original piece and submit your video of it being played on a Clavinova via our Facebook competition page. Then our celebrity judging panel of world-leading composers will review and select their winner, whilst the world at large votes for the winner of the public competition.
The winner selected by the judging panel will have their music professionally arranged and be videoed playing at the studio recording, as well as receiving a brand new CVP – 709. The winner of the public vote wins a CLP-545. So start sharpening those pencils and get those creative thoughts flowing.
Four easy steps to enter
1. Compose an original piece
So that’s the easy bit out of the way. We’re kidding of course, we know this is where the real talent and creative element is going to take place. Please remember it must be an original piece and no more than 3 minutes long. You have until 27th February 2016 to submit your video, so please take your time, although if you already have a composition ready to go please feel free to get filming and uploading it!
2. SHOOT your video
It’s your composition so we would love for you to film yourself playing your music, and feel free to involve your friends playing other instruments or singing with you. The video needs to include a Clavinova being played. If you don’t own one you may find a local Yamaha dealer will be happy to let you film in store. Please note that your piece of music must be original and last no more than 3 minutes.
3. UPLOAD your video
Once you have created your video upload it to Youtube or Vimeo (they have help guides on their sites) and then come to our special Facebook page, complete the entry form and add the link to your video. Add the tags #clavinovacomposer #clavinova #PlayYamahatowin
4. ENTER the competition!
At the top of our wall you will see the competition entry post. Follow the link to enter – complete your details on our registration page and then paste the URL of your video from Youtube or Vimeo. Remember you need to submit your video before 27th February 2016. The earlier you enter, the sooner you can be building up votes from the public!
5. INVOLVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Want to win? Ask your friends and family to vote for your video by sharing your entry on the competition – we’ll send you a link to give them.

Judges
Mr. Paul Carrack (UK)
Paul Carrack is one of the UK's most popular and acclaimed singer-songwriters . A prolific writer and performer, he has composed some of the most memorable and best loved songs in recent UK popular music history and regularly performs to sell out audiences throughout Europe.
He has been a pivotal force in some of the UK's most iconic and influential bands including Ace, Squeeze , Roxy Music and Mike and the Mechanics. He also tours as a guest vocalist and keyboard player with Eric Clapton . His compositions include Ace's smash hit 'How Long', the brilliant 'Over my Shoulder' by Mike and the Mechanics and 'Love will Keep Us Alive' and 'I Don't Wanna Hear Anymore', both recorded by The Eagles. He has also performed with Roger Waters, Ringo Starr and B.B King.
He is a hugely popular solo recording and touring artist and has partnered with Yamaha on a number of innovative ' Emerging Artist' projects.
Mr. Joachim Wolf, (Germany)
Joachim Wolf was born in 1970 in Freiburg, Germany and is a very special, multi-talented musician. From his early childhood, he became familiar with both piano and Yamaha keyboard instruments. He entered his first international talent contest in 1987 and in 1990 he won the "Most Outstanding Performance" award in the world final of the Yamaha Electone Festival in Mexico City. Many other awards and concert appearances followed throughout Europe and Asia.
Since 1995, this versatile pianist, keyboard player, arranger and music producer has worked for Yamaha both as an artist and in product development. His outstanding work can be experienced today in many Yamaha keyboards and Clavinova pianos.
As a professional musician, entertainer, band leader and presenter with around 200 live performances per year, Joachim Wolf is a highly successful stage performer. He also features as musical director in various productions on German television.
Mr. Nacho Cano (Spain)
Nacho Cano is one of the most famous Spanish artists of the past few decades.
He’s a composer, producer, keyboard player, and founder of “Mecano”, the most popular Spanish pop band of the 80’s which still has a big following in today’s music scene. One of the many highlights of his career was producing of the most successful Musical in Spanish of all time, “Hoy no me puedo levantar”.
Mr. Antonio Faraó (Italy)
Antonio Faraò has a wealth of experience in jazz, beginning as a youngster in his native Italy and developing through a career that has extended over 30 years. He has collaborated with Joe Lovano, Miroslav Vitous, Jack DeJohnette, Chris Potter, Bob Berg, Jeff Tain Watts, Didier Lockwood, Billy Cobham, Christian Mc Bride, Lee Konitz, and many more. He is unique amongst pianists; his playing is very personal, expressive and involving, and he's able to maintain the attention of the listener by capturing them with the fluidity of his phrasing, the lightness of his touch and his virtuosity, creating improvisations full of fantasy and dynamism.
The Prizes
Public voted video
All of the videos uploaded will be able to be voted for by the public, although this does not affect how our judging panel will choose the overall winner, the winner of the public vote (those with the most votes) wins a brand new Yamaha Clavinova CLP-545.
Top video as selected by the Judges
The winner as decided by our panel of international judges, will receive a CVP-709 Clavinova. In addition, this winning entrant will also have their song professionally arranged and orchestrated and will receive a professional recording studio session where they will perform and record a video of the orchestrated song using a CVP-709 Clavinova. Travel and accommodation will be arranged and paid by Yamaha.
