Yamaha to Debut at Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne Exhibition in France

Hamamatsu, Japan, March 6, 2013––Yamaha Corporation announces that it will be exhibiting as a company for the first time at the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne, the design exhibition being held March 14–31 in Saint-Étienne, France.

Background to Exhibit

As one of its approaches for universally delivering the appeal of modern musical instruments and AV products, Yamaha’s Design Laboratory has undertaken a number of initiatives from the design perspective. Having exhibited at the Milano Salone in Italy for four consecutive years from 2005, the laboratory has also held exhibitions at the Yamaha Ginza Studio in Tokyo on three occasions since 2010. Yamaha’s participation at this Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne marks the Company’s first appearance at an international design exhibition for around five years.

Yamaha will be exhibiting under its DESIGN RECIPE concept. Likened to a recipe for preparing ingredients in a variety of ways, Yamaha will showcase the design style that has provided the wellspring for the uniqueness of its products and the freshness of its design approach. On display will be 5 new or previously released musical instruments and AV products and 12 prototypes, 8 of which will be seen for the first time in public.

Yamaha marked the 125th anniversary of the commencement of its operations in October last year. This year also represents a milestone for the Design Laboratory, which was established 50 years ago. Through this exhibition, we want to convey our uniqueness to as many people as possible: a uniqueness that is imbued with sensitivity and the Yamaha design philosophy that has been handed down during our long history.
