Update for HDMI Compatibility of Select 2020 AV Receivers with Certain Gaming, Video Devices (December 2021)

Affected Models: RX-V4A, RX-V6A, RX-A2A, TSR-400 and TSR-700

For Certain Pass-through Compatibility with: Xbox Series X, NVIDIA RTX30

From the time we launched several AV receivers in 2020, we stated that we would support emerging HDMI 2.1 capabilities – including pass-through of 4K/120Hz – in these models via future updates. A future hardware update is required on the above AV receivers for customers who plan to connect Xbox Series X or NVIDIA RTX30 at 4K/120Hz to these select AV receivers.

The information below provides further detail for customers requiring 4K/120Hz transmission compatibility with the above AV receivers and the Xbox Series X or NVIDIA RTX30 video device.

For Customers Requiring 4K/120Hz from Select Xbox, NVIDIA Source Devices

The free update program will start from now on.

Due to the global shortage of semiconductors supply, we will inform registered and affected customers in the order of the registration date step by step. Be sure to register your product to get direct communication about the update program.

Please Note:

  • This HDMI board exchange is complimentary to customers for 24 months after the program starts.
  • You will not need this HDMI board exchange unless you are planning to connect an Xbox Series X gaming or a NVIDIA RTX30 video graphic card device at 4K/120Hz signal transmission.
  • These AV receivers (above) currently support HDMI pass-through of 4K/60Hz signals with HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision) and may be used with the latest gaming devices.
  • These AV receivers currently support HDMI eARC, which allows 4K/120Hz sources to be connected directly to a compatible TV, with the audio fed to the AVR via eARC.
  • The newly released RX-A4A, RX-A6A and RX-A8A are unaffected by the pass-through issue, requiring only a future firmware update to enable certain HDMI 2.1 capabilities.

How to identify the target product:

When accepting reservations, prior confirmation that the product is a target product is required.

You can check this on the main unit display using the following method.

1. Update the firmware version to 1.34 or higher.

2. touch the MENU on the front panel of the main unit and select "Settings" → "Firmware Update" in "SELECT / ENTER".

How to identify the target product:

Check the firmware version displayed on the top right of the main unit display.

If there is "*" in front of "Version" and it is "* Version", there is no need to replace the card and you can use the 4K120Hz input/output only by updating the firmware.
