There are two kinds of Silent Guitars: an acoustic guitar type with steel (metal) strings and a classical guitar type with nylon strings. Both types provide sound quality quite close to that of acoustic guitars. Since the nylon-string SLG100N has a thinner neck and lower string height than normal classical guitars, it is easy for beginners, regardless of age and sex, to play. For beginners who would like to be able to play the guitar, making practice fun is very important. In that respect, because the Silent Guitar has a reverb control switch on it, you can practise it even at midnight, enjoying pleasant reverberant sounds, just as if you were playing in a music hall.
Putting it simply, what makes the Silent Guitar different from an electric acoustic guitar is that the latter has a sound box, while the former does not. Since the body of an electric acoustic guitar is cutaway as well as being thinner and smaller than that of an authentic acoustic guitar, it is no match for the acoustic guitar in sound volume and power. Compared with the Silent Guitar which does not have a sound box, however, the electric acoustic guitar is superior in terms of sound volume and power because of the resonant body. On the other hand, because it is designed to output string vibrations caught by sensors as the acoustic guitar sound through the high-quality DSP, the Silent Guitar rarely causes the acoustic feedback peculiar to the electric acoustic guitar.
When performing unplugged, or when you want to stress the feeling of the clear sound of the sound box, choose an electric acoustic guitar, but when you want to perform on stage with that acoustic guitar sound without feedback worries, the Silent Guitar is right for you.
