Johann Hjorleifsson

Johann Hjorleifsson is one of the most sought after drummers in Iceland for all kinds of music and has been since in his late teens. Johann keeps up a busy schedule playing with his band Sálin hans Jóns míns, who has been the number one pop band in Iceland for the last 20 odd years. He has been with Sálin hans Jóns míns from 1998. Since then they have recorded nine albums who have reached gold and platinum sales.

Among other projects is the Reykjavik Big band.

Johann has held the drum chair there since 1995, recording and doing concerts with international artists like Frank Foster, Bob Mintzer, Maria Schneider, Bill Holman,Tim Hagan and The New York Voices.

Besides playing and recording with his regular bands, Johann is a first call session musician and can his playing be heard on around 300 albums. He plays lot of live concerts as a sideman, both small and big productions with various artists, local and international.
